Among our most valued and long-standing professional relationships is the one we have with Nicole Hollis. Her namesake design studio's monograph, NICOLEHOLLIS: Curated Interiors (Rizzoli, 2020) includes Kua Bay for which EJA provided the lighting design. Set on a stunningly sited property with expansive views of the sky and the ocean, this residence is also currently featured on the new EJA website.

What role does light play in your work?  Lighting is a key component of our work. We use lighting to feature interior architecture, light artwork, and create ambiance.

What inspires your selection of decorative fixtures on a project and in your designs for the collection at Phoenix Day? Decorative lighting is “jewelry” for the home. Collaborations with (lighting) designers on custom fixtures and creating a unique work for each project are exciting.  The Phoenix Day collection came from a need for simple decorative fixtures with a sense of restraint, yet classic.

What was the most memorable part of working on your monograph?  Revisiting projects from as far back as 2002—all the lessons learned and the collaborations with clients on their unique projects.
